Les Sources de Caudalie, Bordeaux, France

Exceptionally refined and elegant luxury boutique hotel with an award winning Vinothérapie Spa

4 nights from around £750pp sharing (low season), including breakfast, flights and airport transfers

Les Sources de Caudalie is set amongst the world renowned vineyards of Château Smith Haute Lafite, Grand Crus Classé de Graves and is surrounded by vineyards and forests on the outskirts of Bordeaux. Despite being one of the leading destination spas in the world, packed full of body-appreciating treatments to soothe body and soul, Les Sources de Caudalie is all about indulgence. The food is astonishingly good (not just in the hotel's Michelin starred restaurant), accompanied by an equally impressive wine cellar. We also think the accommodation is exceptional: luxurious, chic and wonderfully elegant.

Accommodation

No expense has been spared on the chic and sublimely luxurious accommodation. Located among the vineyards and gardens, the rooms are flooded with the stunning dappled light from the many trees, with all 40 rooms and 21 suites (housed in 5 distinct cottages) providing elegant spaces, antiques and collectable furniture. There are also six cottages for those looking for a little extra space. We recommend the L’Ile aux Oiseaux, a magnificent suite built on stilts over the lake.

Activities & Experiences

In addition to enjoying the wonderful spa and fine dining, guests at Les Sources de Caudalie can venture out on foot, by bicycle, or by car to discover the neighbouring vineyards in the Graves, as well as those in the Médoc, Sauternes, Pomerol, and Saint-Emilion, depending on your preferences. Cooking classes and wine tasting classes are offered at the hotel. Plus there's indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a tennis court (coaching available) and a fitness studio (personal training available).

Spa & Wellness

The highly regarded Vinothérapie Spa is located at the heart of Les Sources de Caudalie, offering exclusive treatments that combine the virtues of naturally warm spring water, rich in minerals and trace elements drawn from more than 500m underground, with the very latest scientific findings on the benefits of the vine and its grapes. The Spa is all about relaxing and letting their Vinotherapists’ expert hands take care of your body in an elegant atmosphere from which you will emerge refreshed and rested. For an even more immersive experience, the spa also offers a selection of wellness programmes (for 2 to 6 days) for anti-ageing, relaxation, fitness and slimming.

Wining & Dining

Gastronomes will be in 2 Michelin-star heaven at La Grande Vigne whilst the brasserie, La Table du Lavoir, serves sophisticated bistro-style food. Rouge is Les Sources de Caudalie's take on the traditional wine bar, serving fois gras, confits, and Iberian hams - best enjoyed on its large sunny terrace. Oenophiles will adore the Paradox Bar which opens on to a cellar where 1,200 precious bottles are stored. Here you’ll find a fabulous collection of old Armagnacs, Cognacs and whiskies too.

Weather & Seasons

With moderate winters and summers, this is a perfect place to visit in the Spring, Summer and Autumn. Even the winter months are an option here, if you simply wish to enjoy the spa and treat yourself to some fine dining.
