Few countries have remained so untouched in their natural beauty and charm from one century to the next, and only recently has it become possible to explore Myanmar (Burma) in style and comfort aboard a luxury floating hotel. By providing an attractive combination of fascinating cultural talks, incredible sightseeing and reassuring luxury travel, Belmond offers a seamless way to see and appreciate the highlights of Myanmar - from Bagan to Mandalay. As the Belmond Road to Mandalay meanders along the Irrawaddy River, you can admire the stunning scenery which has been hidden from the world’s gaze for so long. We recommend your holiday afloat in Burma be part of a wider itinerary which we would, of course, be pleased to put together for you. For an idea, see our suggested 11 night Highlights of Myanmar: a luxury tailor-made journey exploring Yangon, the Irrawaddy River, Pakokku, Bagan, and Lake Inle.

Elegant and stylish, the Sanctuary Yangzi Explorer is perfect for relaxed cruising through spectacular and ever-changing landscapes. Carrying just 124 passengers, compared to the 300 plus accommodated on other cruise ships, the Sanctuary Yangzi Explorer offers the finest and most personalised service on the river - in fact the vessel carries one member of staff for every guest on board. Sail from Chongqing to Yichang (4 days/3 nights) or vice versa (5 days/4 nights) and enjoy the breathtaking scenery including the 'ghost city' of Fengdu, the Shennong Stream and the Three Gorges Dam Project. Limestone karsts along the Li River from Guilin to Yangshuo

The sheer limestone peaks rearing from the flat plain around the city of Guilin in southern China form a strikingly beautiful landscape that has, since classical times, formed a key motif of Chinese art and literature. The Li River winds its way through this dramatic scenery, past bamboo groves and villages where locals still fish with tethered cormorants. We recommend a cruise downriver from Guilin to the market town of Yangshuo (about 80km), a less commercial and more relaxed location, and a fabulous base from which to explore the stunning local countryside. We suggest staying at the elegant Banyan Tree Yangshuo. Nearby, set in the heart of the karst peaks are some exceptionally picturesque villages, including Fuli with its cobbled streets and traditional fan-making, that can be reached by boat or bicycle.
