Anantara Vilamoura, Algarve, Portugal

The first Anantara resort in Europe promises a truly special Algarve holiday experience.

7 nights from around £1,000pp, including flights and airport transfers

It's great to have this luxury Asian brand making its first foray in Europe. There’s ample room for families and couples alike at the Anantara Vilamoura resort with a fantastic crèche and kids’ club keeping little ones entertained and 5 swimming pools - including an adult-only swimming pool (both inside and out) for those wishing to chill in tranquillity. Keen golfers will be in heaven here too, as much of the accommodation overlooks the Arnold Palmer-designed Victoria Golf Course, which hosts the prestigious PGA Portugal Masters tournament.

The resort offers 280 spacious rooms and suites embracing guests in contemporary style and Anantara’s signature touches. Guests staying in the Anantara Vilamoura suites enjoy full butler service. All rooms are contemporary, clean-lined and comfortable in a soft palette of creams, whites, greys and a pop of red. All come with terraces and views onto the golf course, the gardens or the pool.

Activities & Experiences

Activities include cooking classes with a visit to the market; a golf guru to advise on the surrounding courses in Vilamoura; and for children the hotel has curated experiences from golf clinics to surf schools, dance academy to cooking classes. A complimentary shuttle runs a service to Vilamoura, the golf courses and the hotel's laid-back beach club on the gorgeous sandy shores and crystal clear sea.

There’s lots more to do in the local area, from dolphin-spotting cruises to days out at several local waterparks.

In addition to Family Rooms, there's an excellent Kids' Club with indoor and outdoor spaces, and baby sitting if the parent feel like some time off in the evenings. For older children the resort also has a Teens Club.

Spa & Wellness

Anantara’s Spa focuses on ancient Mediterranean therapies and energising Asian techniques, with revitalising treatments including Thai and Golfer’s Massages. Enjoy access to six treatment rooms, a manicure and pedicure service, indoor Vitality pool, sauna, steam room and Vichy shower. Plus, there's a gym and complimentary yoga, pilates or tai-chi.

Fine-dining restaurant Emo delivers a gourmet twist to the region’s food. Take the opportunity for a wine pairing to discover the best of Portuguese wines, superbly matched by the wine guru. Breakfast, in the Victoria Restaurant, offers an impressive range of breads, fruits, cheeses and hams, plus an egg station. Head to Ria Restaurant for a tasty seafood lunch; watch live cooking shows, relax on the terrace and have your food delivered to your sun lounger by the pool.

Weather & Seasons

The Algarve has a mild climate with more than 300 days of sunshine a year. By June the weather generally settles into a pattern of long hot sunny days and balmy evenings especially in July and August. And September is lovely too.  March, April and October are very pleasant.
