Located in the Hakone National Park, Gora Kadan is the former retreat of the Kanin-no-miya imperial family and is now one of Japan's most luxurious and chic Ryokans. Elegantly designed with tatami-style rooms, sliding-doors and futons overlooking a green valley of pine trees and celebrated cherry trees, Gora Kadan is a wonderful base for exploring the local 'onsen' or hot springs and the surrounding Hakone area.

A mesmerising mixture of traditional and modern, the Gora Kadan offers the very best of Japanese hospitality and an authentic experience. The rooms and suites are all tranquil retreats with traditional Japanese décor and elegant design, and some of the suites have outdoor baths and balconies. They offer the height of tranquillity and service and give guests an opportunity to experience an authentic

Japanese ryokan experience.

Weather & Seasons

The best and most popular times to visit Japan are the climatically stable seasons of spring (March to May) and autumn (late September to November). The highlight of spring is the cherry-blossom season. Autumn is an equally good time to travel, with pleasant temperatures and rich autumn colours, which usually peak between late October and mid-November.
