Viceroy Riviera Maya, Mexico

Secluded, laid-back yet luxurious, adult-only getaway

7 nights from £2,375pp (low season) and from £4,115pp (high season) in a Luxury Villa, including breakfast & transfers

Combining ancient Mayan culture and contemporary design, Viceroy Riviera Maya is a stylish and intimate retreat on the beautiful Mexican Riviera, near Playa del Carmen. This understated and luxurious hideaway

is set amongst tropical jungle overlooking seven miles of secluded white sand beaches and

the turquoise waters of the Caribbean.

Accommodation

The 41 private villas feature a private patio and plunge pool, outdoor shower, high-ceiling thatched-palapa roof echoing the jungle environment, 500-thread-count Egyptian cotton sheets, plush down pillows, and a terrace replete with chaise lounges, hand-carved stone dining table and a handmade crochet hammock. Villa locations range from oceanfront and ocean view to verdant jungle gardens.

Activities & Experiences

Why not visit one of the many Mayan ruins in the area, go horse riding along the beach, and snorkeling or scuba diving in the crystal clear waters of the ocean?  Or simply relax on the private beach or beside the pool.  Butlers stand ready poolside with iced face-towels to cool sun-warmed brows, or to change damp chaise-lounge covers post swim.  There's also a spa, fitness studio and yoga classes.

Facilities & Services

Beyond the usual invigorating facial or deep-tissue massage, the Wayak Spa promises to heal body and spirit through traditional Maya rituals. The Temezcal, an intensive sweat lodge ceremony, is said to be not just therapeutic and relaxing, but a mystical journey, as well.

The relaxed, open-air Coral Bar & Grill is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving savoury Mexican dishes,

fresh ceviche, expertly grilled fish and even pizza. You won’t want to miss the surf-and-turf beach barbeque hosted every Friday night. Soft lighting, breezy curtains and a wall of ocean-gazing windows set the tone for a romantic dinner at La Marea, a contemporary,

Mediterranean-inspired Mexican restaurant.

For over-the-top romance, arrange for a candlelit beach dinner at a table set with white tablecloths in a private palapa surrounded

by glowing torches in the sand.

Weather & Seasons

The best time to visit is during the drier, slightly milder months from November to May. The ‘rainy’ season begins in the south around June and runs until November, and it's likely to be hotter and more humid at this time. However, it normally only rains for a couple of hours

before the weather clears.

Getting Here
