Vil Uyana, Sigiriya, Sri Lanka

Luxury boutique hotel providing an excellent base for exploring the Cultural Triangle

Double rooms from £270 per night. Flights and transfers available as part of your tailor-made itinerary.

Overlooking Sigiriya rock, set within 23 acres of abandoned paddy fields, Vil Uyana is a stilted resort with a modern Thai/Balinese style and a wonderful haven for those who wish to escape to nature and indulge in pampering themselves in luxurious comfort. A member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World.

Accommodation

Vil Uyana has just 25 rooms, with four different styles to choose from. There are two standard rooms that offer everything that you might need but, for a truly luxurious stay, choose one of the water, paddy, marsh or forest dwellings. The Paddy and Marsh Dwellings are on stilts and are split-level. Some of these rooms have plunge pools. All Paddy Dwellings are connected by raised teak walkways across the rice fields. The Water Dwellings are also on stilts and are split-level. The Forest Dwellings are not above water but are duplex.

Activities & Experiences

The hotel will be happy to arrange cultural tours and activities in the local area and beyond. You can climb the Sigiriya Rock Fortress located 5km away, visit Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura cultural cities, visit the village temple and learn about Buddhism from the head monk of the temple, visit the craft village and learn about traditional Sri Lankan crafts. You could also enjoy a picturesque cycling or walking trail and the Loris watching tour to catch a glimpse of these adorable little creatures is a must.

If you're here in August or September you can witness the world famous ‘Minneriya Elephant Gathering’, the largest grouping of

elephants at one time in Asia, about 40 minutes away.

Families

Children are welcome to come and stay at Vil Uyana. However, there are no specific facilities for them but they'll enjoy the many cultural activities in the local area and beyond.

Facilities & Services

Vil Uyana offers Ayurvedic spa treatments, yoga and meditation. If you're after some more intensive exercise than cycling or wandering around the nearby cultural landmarks, you can always head to the fitness studio for a work out.

Sulang features casual dining while Apsara is the property’s fine dining restaurant. The main restaurant is very welcoming and the staff are on hand to help at any time of the day.
