Originally a Valentine’s Day gift from actor Richard Burton to (final) wife Susan Hunt, Hacienda San Angel retains the romance of that gesture. Now a collection of adjacent properties, combining to create a 20 bedroom boutique hideaway, connected by lush interior courtyards filled with bubbling fountains, fiery bougainvillea and dramatic sculptural details. The Hacienda’s romantic guest suites offer sweeping views over Banderas Bay and the Sierra Madre mountains, and provides a delightful respite from the bustle of downtown Puerto Vallarta.

Accommodation

Hacienda San Angel’s twenty suites lie within multiple villas that are connected by terraces and gardens. Each villa has been beautifully restored by local artisans, with mod-cons such as air conditioning, cable TV, marble floors, vaulted ceilings and French windows added along the way.

Activities & Experiences

Puerto Vallarta’s charming cobblestone streets are lined with excellent restaurants, intriguing shops and an eclectic collection of art galleries. Along the shore, a beautiful promenade fronts the waters of Banderas Bay, where giant art installations welcome locals and tourists alike. From its enviable location, the Hacienda San Angel provides guests with a luxurious base from which to enjoy everything the city has to offer.

Facilities & Services

In addition to numerous terraces and garden spaces, the hotel has two heated pools and a large rooftop Jacuzzi overlooking the famed crown of Guadalupe church - it's an ideal place for viewing the magnificent sunsets. There are two restaurants: one serving gourmet Mexican cuisine, the other offering Italian and international fare. Complimentary internet access is provided in the main living area.

Weather & Seasons

The hot and humid rainy summer season lasts from June to October The best month to visit is November, after the summer rains. January and February is whale-watching season. Come between November and March to see nesting and hatching turtles, from December to March if you want to watch dolphins and whales, or in April to spot giant manta rays.

Getting Here

11 hour 30 minute flight from London to Mexico City, followed by an 80 minute domestic flight to Puerto Vallarta.
