In local tongue Tsala means ‘the elevated resting place’, an apt description of this luxurious lodge which rises high above Tsitsikamma Forest floor. Accommodation

Above the forest floor, the ten luxury private suites of Tsala Treetop Lodge are linked by meandering wooden walkways and share the lofty canopy of Tsitsikamma's primal forest in a symphony of wood, glass and water. Each suite has a private infinity plunge pool, airy wooden decks and lavishly appointed bathrooms as well as outside showers. There are six two bedroomed villas with a large fireplace,

Activities & Experiences

Located a couple of miles from Plettenberg Bay and about six from Knysna, Tsala is ideally situated for guests to explore the beautiful South African coastline and can be included in a tour along the Garden Route. There's so much to do, see and enjoy here! Options include boat cruises, zip-lining, bungee jumping, canopy tours, kayaking, surfing, horse riding, whale watching (July to November) and visits to Monkeyland, Birds of Eden and the Elephant Sanctuary.

Weather & Seasons

South Africa's Garden Route enjoys a moderate climate all year round. In peak summer season, from December to February, temperatures climb as high as 34ºC, although winter temperatures can drop to as low as 4ºC. During the winter months of June, July, and August, expect frequent rains and a couple of chilly evenings. From June to December, the Southern Right Whale graces the coastline with its massive presence.

Getting Here

The nearest airport is Port Elizabeth with regular flights from both Jo'burg and Cape Town. Tsala is about a 2 hour 30 minute drive from the airport. Alternatively you can drive from Cape Town along the scenic Garden Route in about 6 hours non-stop, but we can recommend lots of fabulous places to stay along the way...
