Macakizi Hotel, Bodrum, Turkey

Glamorous, boutique beach hideaway overlooking the shimmering Aegean

Double rooms from £375 per night, including breakfast and 3 course dinner

Located in the bay of Turkbuku, Turkey’s answer to St Tropez, Macakizi is the glam place to stay near Bodrum. Lovers seeking romance and seclusion should come outside of high season (July and August), when the hotel turns into a magnet for the monied of Istanbul, and the Euro yacht set.

Accommodation

The 74 rooms are mainly housed in two storey cottages spilling down the hillside, so guests have the choice of first floor or top floor, both with balconies. Relatively simple, yet contemporary and chic, the rooms have whitewashed walls and wooden furniture, complimented by flashes of colour from the bougainvillea. For the utmost privacy, we recommend an Upper Deck Room – these are set high on the hillside, away from the buzz. All rooms have French king-size beds as well as an additional single sofa bed, and remote-controlled black-out blinds, flatscreen Bose TV, minibar, bathrooms with rain fall showers and Aqua di Parma bath products.

Activities & Experiences

Down beside the sea, there are sun loungers and large ottoman cushions - perfect for watching the mega yachts sail past and soaking up the sunshine at this chic, glamorous hideaway. For those who want to get out and about, one of the best ways to see the hidden coves of the Aegean sea is by gulet. The staff can also arrange water skiing, sailing, and jet ski hire. At the hotel itself, there is a swimming pool and a spa - treatments can either be done in room or in the tented pavilions by the sea. Yoga can also be arranged.

In the evening, wander the length of the Göltürkbükü waterfront, pausing only for a drink and a bout of celebrity spotting.

Facilities & Services

Great food is at the heart of this hotel – though rooms close in winter (November to April), the restaurant stays open all year, and is widely recognised as a culinary heavyweight. Elegant but comfy white chairs are set out on the decking, overlooking the Aegean; at night, glamorous diners, and lanterns, light up the space.

Enjoy a massage or body scrub in the open-plan spa treatment rooms with bamboo-lined walls, or heat up in the glass-fronted hammam.

Work off lunch with a personal training session or unwind with a Pilates class overlooking the bay.

Weather & Seasons

The region is warm and sunny from late Spring to early Autumn. Expect highs of 30C from June to September, and 25C in May and October.
