Dating back to 1764, this sophisticated manor house exudes colonial elegance with soft contemporary touches. With only 12 rooms and suites, this boutique property was once the official residence of the British Admiral of the Peninsula and is now a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, providing an excellent base from which to explore the fascinating city of Galle, a UNESCO Heritage site.

Each of the 10 bedrooms and 2 suites are spacious and well proportioned, featuring a four poster bed and an array of carefully selected antiques and collectibles. All rooms and suites have either a private patio, garden or balcony

Activities & Experiences

Take a River Safari on the Gini Ganga to see the wildlife on the river banks, including the tropical birds and monkeys, or go fishing with a local expert to learn the Sri Lankan methods. Very near by is the Kovila Godella Temple, which is the site of a 400 year old Bo tree. Visit the famous historic Galle Fort and walk around the outside walls along the seafront. For an informative introduction to the history of the city, visit the Maritime Museum and the Historical Mansion Museum, both of which sit just beside the harbour.

Facilities & Services

The centre piece of Tamarind Hill is the courtyard garden hemmed by shaded terraces, whilst inside, the high white ceilings create unique spaces and home to a fine dining restaurant where you'll enjoy the delights of Sri Lankan cuisine - although dining al fresco in the garden or on the terrace is a popular option. Hidden in the gardens is an infinity lap pool surrounded by trees, sun loungers and oversized day beds.
