Lesic Dimitri Palace, Korcula Island, Croatia
Collection of 5* luxury serviced residences within the city walls of Korcula, close to many beaches
Residences from around £350 per night, including breakfast. Flights and transfers available on request.
Make yourself at home at Lesic Dimitri Palace, an ornate jewel of a hotel in a grand 18th century bishop’s house. This non-traditional hotel – it’s more a collection of serviced 1 to 3 bedroom residences (each with their own front door), with a restaurant and spa – is within the historic city walls of Korcula, a medieval town on the tip of a small island in the Adriatic. Hide out in one of the unique self-contained apartments, dine on the freshest of seafood or take the hotel’s handsome sailing boat out and explore the archipelago just off the Dalmatian coast.
Accommodation
Lesic Dimitri Palace is a collection of five self-contained residences, each uniquely designed and with its own kitchen facilities. The eye-catching Venice residence has a striking decor and spacious living area with a hidden terrace, perfect for relaxing. It is the largest of the residences, with three bedrooms laid out over 120 sq.m. The one bedroom Arabia is the most intimate, with white linen furnishings and a bath in the bedroom. Ceylon (one bedroom) and India (two bedrooms) are located on the ground floor but feel surprisingly spacious, with tasteful wooden furniture and white walls offsetting the original stone work. China, with two bedrooms, has a vibrant living area decorated with rich reds and dark wood, with a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea.
Activities & Experiences
The entire island is covered with hiking routes, but those around the village of Zrnovoare particularly picturesque. When you’re ready to unfurl your beach towel, you’ll be spoilt for choice: walk down to one of the several sandy beaches around the mediaeval town of Korcula: some of the best are in nearby Lumbarda, including Vela Przina, Bilin Zal and Tatinja. Or, take a short boat ride (the hotel can arrange them) to one of the islands nearby: they’re fantastic spots for a secluded swim.
Facilities & Services
The hotel's restaurant, LD Terrace, features a 900-year-old olive press and smoking room, befitting of its location in the oldest part of the building. The menu is typically Croatian but with a modern take on more traditional recipes. Croatia's wines are becoming increasingly popular and the hotel's sommelier is always happy to recommend the local Dalmatian varieties.
Weather & Seasons
Croatia is considered to be a year round destination. The warmest months are July and August with highs of around the low 33°C. In May and October - which are essentially the months that mark the beginning and end of the season - you may expect highs of 21°C.
Getting Here
From Dubrovnik, Korcula is a 2 hour drive (including a 20 minute ferry ride). Alternatively, fly to Split and take the high speed catamaran from Split to Korcula which takes approximately 2.5 hours.
