The Oberoi Philae has recently been completely renovated and is now considered by many as being the most luxurious floating hotel on the Nile. With just 18 cabins and suites and a superb array of facilities and services, this is an elegant and stylish option for a 4 or 6 night cruise along the Upper Nile.

Accommodation

The Philae has 18 luxury cabins on board boasting large french sliding windows and bright shower rooms overlooking the Nile. Two of its four suites have their own terraces with Jaccuzis and all suites boast spacious bathrooms with separate rain shower, dual vanity counter and a TV.

The Journey

The vessel offers 4 night and 6 night cruises between Luxor and Aswan (and vice versa). It is easy to forget that you are on a boat at all when staying on-board the Oberoi Philae such is the luxurious accommodation and spacious facilities at your disposal, including a 16-chair theatre in which to enjoy a film or a documentary to preview the next day's adventure through Ancient Egypt. Onshore, an experienced guide will relay the history of the fascinating temples, tombs and sights en route along your journey discovering the wonders of the region.

Facilities & Services

The Philae's elegant restaurant specialises in gourmet international, middle eastern and indian dining and the impeccable service, presentation and design of both the restaurant and food make meals on board a first class experience. There is also restaurant on the pool deck offering alfresco dining and a well-stocked lounge bar below where international wines and spirits are available.

Guests can also enjoy relaxing in the library or cigar lounge, working out in the 24-hour fitness centre, soaking up the rays on the sun deck, dipping into the temperature controlled swimming pool or unwinding in one of the four therapy rooms at the spa at the end of a day of exploring.

Weather & Seasons

Egypt has year-round sun, and almost no rain. Daytime temperatures range from pleasantly warm in the winter to very hot in the summer. Northerly cities such as Cairo and Alexandria are generally about 5ºC cooler than southerly areas such as Aswan and Abu Simbel.

Getting Here

Departures are from Luxor or Aswan (or vice versa). To reach the docks, we recommend flying from Cairo to either destination. To Luxor it's an hour, and to Aswan it's 90 minutes. There are several daily flights, so there's no need to stay overnight in Cairo unless you wish to. We can arrange domestic and international flights, local transfers, and hotels in Cairo, Aswan, Luxor and elsewhere.
