Sanctuary Chief's Camp, Okavango Delta, Botswana

Luxury safari camp in the Moremi Game Reserve, the predator capital of Africa

Available as part of your tailor-made adventures in the region, designed by our destination specialists especially for you

Sanctuary Chief's Camp sits amidst the glassy waters of the Okavango's seasonal flood waters. Sited in the exclusive Mombo concession of the Moremi Game Reserve (known as the "predator capital of Africa"), this camp has been seamlessly integrated into the environment of winding waterways, reedbeds, mopane woodlands and seasonal lagoons. The area's game is outstanding: lion are frequently seen and the area is one of the few places in Botswana offering a 'Big Five' experience.

Accommodation

Sanctuary Chief's Camp has ten private bush pavilions on raised wooden platforms, as well as one luxury suite. These are some of the largest guest rooms in the area, each offering a private deck, plunge pool, and peaceful outdoor seating area. Natural materials ensure the air-conditioned accommodation feels at home in its surroundings, and sophisticated décor (plus wifi) provide for a luxury stay.

Activities & Experiences

The Okavango Delta is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including the Big Five, plus hyena, giraffe, African painted dog and over 500 species of bird. Game drives in customised 4x4 vehicles provide guests with the chance to spot as much game as possible, and traditional mokoro (dugout wooden canoes) excursions offer a safari experience from a different perspective, taking you gently and silently along the channels of the Delta in search of hippo and crocodile.

Facilities & Services

Meals are all freshly prepared to the highest standards. Enjoy a buffet lunch under the trees on the main deck, followed by afternoon tea with delectable cakes and scones. Sundowners are the perfect way to end an afternoon game drive, and then sit around the boma for pre-dinner drinks with your fellow guests. Finally enjoy a fantastic dinner cooked in the heart of the Delta.

Weather & Seasons

Botswana’s winter is May to October when the weather is hot during the day (not stiflingly hot) and cold at night. Botswana's summer months from November to April can be hot and humid, with a chance of rain. Botswana's rainy season runs from mid-December to mid-March. The Okavango Delta provides excellent wildlife viewing year-round.
