The Plettenberg has 37 luxury rooms and suites, plus a Beach House (two bedrooms) and the Lookout Villa (three bedrooms). Rooms have been elegantly decorated and all have air-conditioning. Most have balconies or patios, under-floor heating and sensational sea views.

The hotel is within easy walking distance of two of Plettenberg’s best swimming beaches - the Lookout and Beacon Island. It's also a short stroll to the main street's numerous shops and restaurants.

Garden Route, world-renowned for its outdoor activities. From regular dolphin and whale sightings to bungee jumping, treetop canopy tours, kayaking, and other more daring pursuits in the surrounding countryside. The hotel is also close to an elephant sanctuary and a monkey park. Whale presence in Plettenberg Bay is from mid May to February with the southern right whales around from June to November, the migratory humpback whales arrive with their calves early November and stay until the end of February and are seen again during May and June.

Weather & Seasons

South Africa's Garden Route enjoys a moderate climate all year round. In peak summer season, from December to February, temperatures climb as high as 34ºC. During the winter months of June, July, and August, expect frequent rains and a couple of chilly evenings.

Getting Here

The nearest airport is Port Elizabeth with regular flights from both Jo'burg and Cape Town. The Plettenberg is about a 2 hour 30 minute drive from the airport. Alternatively you can drive from Cape Town along the scenic Garden Route in about 6 hours non-stop, but we can recommend lots of fabulous places to stay along the way...
