An ultra-cool design hotel set on the shores of the Last Hope fjord, just outside the pretty town of Puerto Natales. This unusual luxury hotel is actually an historic frigorifico (cold storage plant) from the days of Patagonia's thriving sheep trade - declared a National Monument in 1996. Stay here for a totally unique Patagonian experience that's in the ideal location for exploring the Chilean fjords, Patagonian wilderness and the nearby Torres del Paine National Park.

Accommodation

Every one of the 57 rooms and suites has floor to ceiling windows to maximize the views over the Patagonian fjords. Bathrooms are large and luxurious, with deep tubs and walk-in showers.

Activities & Experiences

Over 20 excursions are on offer for an unforgettable experience into the depths of Chilean Patagonia. Daily guided treks, horse rides, cycling and road excursions - suitable for all levels of ability - ensure that everyone maximises their time here, and include the Torres del Paine with its stunning lakes, peaks and abundance of Andean wildlife. Boat trips in the hotel's comfortable cruiser on the fjords to the Balmaceda and Serrano Glaciers are a definite highlight. Each afternoon the lodge's expert bilingual guides meet with guests to explain the different options on offer for the following day. Longer full day excursions typically include a picnic lunch. When you get back, it's good to know you can head to the spa for a swim and a steam and some blissful relaxation.

Weather & Seasons

The weather is unpredictable at any time of year in Patagonia and people will often tell you to expect all seasons in a single day. However, October to April are good months to visit, with December to March considered the best. The hotel is closed from mid May to mid September.

4 hour domestic flight from Santiago to Punta Arenas, followed by a 2 hour 30 minute road transfer.
